RF Microneedling FAQs
No, there isn’t any downtime after having RF Microneedling, and you can return to your regular daily routine.
However, because the treatment does create micro-injuries to the skin, you should be aware of some aftercare recommendations to help with healing.
- For the “mild sunburn” feeling and post-treatment redness, apply ice packs as needed.
- Refrain from using makeup on the treated area for 24 hours.
- Avoid sun exposure/tanning treatments for 14 days.
- Wear sunscreen (always!), especially for 2 to 3 weeks after your treatment.
- Don’t engage in activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 hours.
- Refrain from using toners, harsh cleansers, or scrubs for 48 to 72 hours.
With the micro-injuries created by the treatment’s tiny needles—and those created in deeper thermal layers by the RF energy—your skin may appear reddish in the treatment areas for 24 to 48 hours.
This redness can look similar to a mild sunburn, and may have similar sensitivity, though it won’t peel or blister like a sunburn.
The treatment area may incur minor swelling for a few days. The RF Microneedling device head has a series of tiny needs that stamp the skin, and this may create “patterning” which fades in a few days.
You may experience minor “pinpoint” bleeding and slight bruising, which will fade quickly as your body heals the treatment area.
